Sharon Mutizira

I'm a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in the Brand Management team within our London Intellectual Property department. I specialise in brand management and product design.

I joined the Brands team in 2023, having previously qualified at another international law firm, where I managed and coordinated a number of trade mark and design portfolios, both in the UK and internationally. My legal career began at the Walt Disney Company as an in-house intern, where I gained exposure to the commercial aspects of IP.

In terms of day-to-day, I advise clients on brand name protection including the adoption of new trade marks, domain names and designs, clearance searches for the same, filing strategy and portfolio management around the world with the purpose of retaining exclusivity in their brands and products. I also manage contentious proceedings, whether opposition or invalidity actions, cancellation actions, or infringement, before the UK and EU Intellectual Property Offices. I advise clients on commercial aspects of IP, such as negotiating and drafting co-existence agreements and assignments. I successfully engage with a variety of clients, from individuals, and start-ups to large corporations in a range of sectors, including food and beverages, technology, fashion and entertainment, financial services, retail, and pharmaceuticals.

I am a member of CITMA (Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys) and IPSoc and a contributor to Bird & Bird's international brands publication, BrandWrites.
