International law firm Bird & Bird advised MirSense, a French deeptech company specialising in the design of quantum cascade laser (QCL) for defence and industrial applications, on its €7 million Series A fundraising.
Safran Corporate Ventures led the financing round, which also included new entrants Polytechnique Ventures and Crédit Agricole Alpes Développement (C2AD), as well as existing shareholder Supernova Invest.
With this funding, MirSense, which grew out of the work of the III-V Lab (the joint laboratory of Thales, Nokia and the CEA) and IES Montpellier, aims to accelerate the industrialisation of mirChip, a miniature sensor designed to prevent gas leaks at sensitive sites. It also plans to increase its production capacity with a new site in Grenoble, an R&D centre in Montpellier and a modernised site in Orsay.
MirSense was advised by Bird & Bird with a team composed of partner Félicien Bardsley and associate Elodie Vardon, who advised on the corporate aspects.
