Bird & Bird appoints energy expert Jenny Murray as new partner

International law firm Bird & Bird today strengthens its Infrastructure, Projects & Procurement Group (IPPG) with the appointment of Jenny Murray as a partner in its London office.

Jenny is an expert in energy, infrastructure, and renewables projects, with 15 years of experience advising developers, investors, and infrastructure funds on a wide range of matters throughout the full project lifecycle. She has negotiated various commercial energy and construction contracts, including EPC, EPCM, DBO, EPIC, and O&M agreements, as well as offtake agreements, power purchase agreements, and project finance documentation.

Holding a CFA qualification in ESG Investing, Jenny brings a deep understanding of financial modelling and project economics. She is particularly skilled at managing risk and mitigating crises in long-term projects, helping clients to navigate the complex commercial and technical challenges of the energy transition.

Jenny’s arrival marks the second appointment into Bird & Bird’s IPPG, following Eleanor Kerslake’s joining last week, underscoring ambitious growth as part of the firm’s global five-year strategy.

Dr. Matthias Lang, head of the international Energy & Utilities Group at Bird & Bird, comments: “Following the merger of our Infrastructure, Projects & Procurement Group, we’re delighted to welcome Jenny to the fast-growing team. Bird & Bird continues to have a strong reputation in the energy and utilities sector – particularly in renewable energy and energy projects driven by digitalisation – both in London and internationally. With her broad expertise on a wide range of matters in energy, Jenny will help position us as a go-to adviser for complex and commercially exciting mandates in the UK and European renewables space.”

Phil Sherrell, head of Bird & Bird’s London office, said: “With the government’s 10-year Infrastructure Strategy setting a clear path for significant investment, Jenny’s appointment comes at a pivotal time. As evolving ESG expectations, digital innovations and regulatory change shape the infrastructure landscape, we look forward to the IPPG team’s continued expansion and helping our clients to capitalise on the opportunities ahead.”

Jenny added: “I’m excited to join Bird & Bird and build on its strong reputation for advising clients at the intersection of technology, regulation, and infrastructure. With innovation and infrastructure investment on the rise, I look forward to helping clients navigate this fast-changing landscape and guiding them through the energy transition with confidence.”
