International law firm Bird & Bird LLP advised UNITED Marketing Technologies by DuMont on the acquisition of a 75.1% stake in artegic, Germany's leading Software as a Service provider of real-time marketing automation software.

UNITED Marketing Technologies by DuMont brings together a group of highly specialized and successful marketing technology companies within the DuMont media and technology group. UNITED Marketing Technologies is a 100 percent subsidiary of family-owned DuMont. With artegic, the portfolio is expanded to include the leading German specialist in SaaS solutions for real-time marketing automation via e-mail and mobile communication (SMS, messaging). The acquisition enables UNITED to horizontally expand its MarTech offering with automation solutions for omnichannel content management.

artegic, based in Bonn, Germany, was founded in 2005 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute. Since then, the company has developed into a provider of a scalable SaaS solution with a focus on the enterprise segment. At its core is the ELAINE software, which enables high-end email marketing, multichannel marketing automation and optimization of transactional emails. It is also used for processing highly sensitive data and business-critical communications, for example from the insurance, banking or healthcare sectors. About 82% of German Internet users are in contact with well-known companies via artegic's technology, and artegic supports over 60% of all e-commerce transactions in Germany. Worldwide, around 2.7 billion messages are sent to 141 countries every month. With over 70 employees at its German locations in Bonn and Munich, artegic stands for sustainably successful dialog marketing with measurable results and maximum effectiveness.

The management of artegic around founder and CEO Stefan von Lieven, founder and CTO Jörg Sayn and COO/CFO Bernd Weber will continue to lead the company and develop it further within the UNITED Group.
