I am a venture capital and M&A lawyer in Bird & Bird's London office. I advise clients on a range of corporate transactions with a particular interest in early-stage equity financing.

International law firm Bird & Bird has advised Standard Investments on PhysicsX’s $135 million Series B funding round, announced on 22 June 2025.

The round was led by Atomico, with participation from Temasek, Siemens, Applied Materials, and July Fund. Existing investors — including General Catalyst, NGP, Radius Capital, Standard Investments, and Allen & Co. — also reaffirmed their support.

PhysicsX, a London-based deep tech company, is pioneering the use of AI to transform the engineering of physical systems. Its platform combines AI-driven multiphysics inference with simulation, enabling performance optimisation and accelerating innovation across industries such as aerospace, energy, and automotive.

Founded by Robin Tuluie (former Head of R&D at Renault (Alpine) F1 and Mercedes F1) and Jacomo Corbo (former Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey), PhysicsX is developing a next-generation engineering software stack to embed AI across the entire product lifecycle — from design to manufacturing and operations.

Since Standard Investments’ Series A investment in November 2023 — also advised on by Bird & Bird — PhysicsX has scaled rapidly, growing to over 150 team members and more than quadrupling its revenue. The latest funding brings total investment to nearly $170 million and will support global expansion and the accelerated development of advanced physics foundation models.

Standard Investments, affiliated with Standard Industries, focuses on the convergence of industry and technology. It invests across public and private markets, targeting early to growth-stage companies in sectors such as manufacturing, digital technologies, sustainability, and mobility. This latest investment highlights the increasing importance of AI-driven innovation in advanced manufacturing - vital to global economic resilience, sustainability transitions, and technological sovereignty.

The Bird & Bird Corporate team advising on the transaction comprised partners Matt Bonass and Adam Meisels, and senior associate Albert Mennen.
