International law firm Bird & Bird advised GEDU Global Education on its acquisition of ICN Business School Nancy, a leading French management school recognised by EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB accreditations and among the top triple-accredited business schools in the world.

Founded in 1905 in Nancy, the school which now has three campuses - two in France (Nancy and Paris La Défense) and one in Germany (Berlin) - aims to expand its academic offering. New courses will be created, both in France and internationally, and a digital campus will be created.

GEDU Global Education, founded in 2010, brings together 60,000 students in various fields, with a presence in 13 countries including Spain, the United States of America and Australia. This collaboration with ICN Business School promises to boost the school's development while sharing the same values of performance and innovation.

The Bird & Bird French team consisted of leading partner Bertrand Lévy, Counsel Karlyn Desclides, and associates Clémence Breuil, Yvan Vérité and Ahmed Khlif for corporate aspects; partner Etienne Guillou and associate Mérine Avaby for the tax aspects; partner Boris Martor, Counsel Louise-Marie Nicolas and associate Pierre-Benoît Drancourt for the public law aspects; Counsel Virginie Estéoule and associate Alizée Planche for the real estate aspects; associate Sam Durand for the employment aspects; Counsel Oriane Zubcevic and associate Clément Taïeb for the data privacy aspects; and associate Lola Barberon for the intellectual property aspects.

The transaction also required the assistance of Bird & Bird’s international team, comprising partner Stefanie Orttmann and associate Jan Medele from the Dusseldorf office (Germany) and partner John Shi and associate Siyang Song from the Beijing office (China), for corporate aspects.
