International law firm Bird & Bird has advised Radio Frequency Systems Holding GmbH (RFS), a Nokia Group company, on the sale of its global cable business (excluding North America) to the Chinese Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Ltd (YOFC). The transaction under German law was signed in August 2023 and was subject to customary closing conditions, including foreign direct investment control. Closing took place at the beginning of the second quarter of 2024.
RFS is a global developer and manufacturer of cable, antenna, and mast systems as well as active and passive radio frequency modules and offers complete solutions for wireless infrastructures. YOFC is a China-based company specialising in the manufacture and sale of optical fibres and cables. With the acquisition of RFS, YOFC plans to optimise its production capacities, diversify its product portfolio, and open up new markets.
